The Açu is the heavyweight champion of the peacock bass world — the fish every serious angler is really chasing in the Amazon. In its spawning phase it shows three bold vertical bars (locals call this the 'Açu' or '3-Bar' phase); the rest of the time it wears a darker speckled pattern known as 'Paca.' Either way, it's the same brute: an ambush predator built to demolish topwater lures and haul drag off a heavy baitcaster like nothing else in freshwater.
